RANKING THE NON-BIG 12 GAMES

-

1. Florida State vs. Alabama in Atlanta, 7 p.m., ABC: First opener matching two teams ranked in the preseason top three.

2. Michigan vs. Florida in Arlington, Texas, 2:30 p.m., ABC: Both teams have played coy at quarterback, but the Gators have suspended 10 players for this game.

3. Texas A&M at UCLA, 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Fox: Aggies won last year in overtime. Kevin Sumlin sure could use another victory.

4. Brigham Young vs. LSU in New Orleans, 8:30 p.m., ESPN: Hurricane Harvey sent this game away from Houston, which gives the Tigers a big homefield edge.

5. Tennessee at Georgia Tech, 7 p.m. Monday, ESPN: Yellow Jackets often susceptible when an opponent has plenty of time to prepare for the option.

6. California at North Carolina, 11:20 a.m., ACC Network: Wonder when West Coast teams will stipulate in contracts they won’t kick off this early on trips to the Eastern time zone?

7. Kentucky at Southern Miss, 3 p.m., CBS Sports Network: Tough opener for Mark Stoops. Most SEC teams wouldn’t dare go to Hattiesburg.

8. Temple at Notre Dame, 2:30 p.m., NBC: Fighting Irish barely escaped the Owls’ upset bid in 2015.

9. North Carolina State vs. South Carolina in Charlotte, N.C., 2 p.m., ESPN: Old rivals have met just three times since 1991.

10. Appalachian State at Georgia, 5:15 p.m., ESPN: Dangerous opener for the Bulldogs. The Mountaineers took Tennessee to overtime last season in Knoxville.
