Love’s donates $1M to Harvey victims

-

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores is donating $1 million to help victims impacted by Hurricane Harvey, it’s announced.

The company said $500,000 is going to the United Way’s Harvey Recovery Fund, which guarantees 100 percent of donations are being distributed to local United Way organizations to help victims in Texas and Louisiana. Love’s also set aside $500,000 to help its employees through its emergency employee fund, company officials said.

“Our hearts are with everyone affected by this unprecedented storm,” said Jenny Love Meyer, vice president of communications for Love’s. “Our Musket fuel trading office employs more than 100 people near downtown Houston, and several travel stop locations throughout Texas and Louisiana employ hundreds more.

“Many of our employees are among the thousands who have suffered personal and property loss. Even so, many have reported to work to keep our locations open where possible to take care of first responders and anyone needing assistance. As relief and recovery efforts continue, Love’s said it continues to hear about employees working to help out in relief efforts, including distributing cases of water and food to stranded professional truck drivers and motorists, feeding and providing shelter for families and first responder teams, and working for days on end to keep fuel deliveries on track and travel stop locations open to serve the public.

Love’s support teams have also been working around the clock to procure deliveries of fuel, food and supplies. Managers from Oklahoma and North Texas have also traveled to the area to help out.

“We’re beyond fortunate to have big-hearted, dedicated employees across our Love’s, Musket, Gemini, and Trillium CNG companies,” Love Meyer said.
