Individuals and families have an opportunity to raise money while embarking on a new adventure.

Restore-OKC, an outreach connected to City Presbyterian Church ministries, is hosting “Riversport Rivalry” on Sept. 10 at Riversport Rapids, 800 Riversport Drive.

Emily Wilkins, who coordinated the effort, said the ministry is seeking individuals who will form teams of four to participate in various sports.

Wilkins described the fundraiser as a cross between “The American Race” and Ninja Warrior” TV shows. She said it was designed to appeal to many people and she envisioned as something fun and purposeful for families to do together.

Wilkins said she created the fundraiser after talking to RestoreOKC’s Director Caylee Dodson who wanted something “family

friendly, something different and something outdoors.”

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, but most importantly it is going to raise money for an organization that is doing great things, “Wilkins said.

Wilkins said teams will participate in three different parts of the rivalry event: the Sandridge Sky Trail, White Water Rafting and Adventure Sports. At some point in the event, participating teams will find themselves rock climbing, on a waterslide, kayaking or navigating stand up paddle boards, she said.

Eighteen teams already have signed up to participate, but Wilkins said she would love to see more and perhaps businesses might be interested in forming employee teams.

Wilkins said the public is invited to watch the rivalry action. There will be opportunities to support RestoreOKC at the event, and there are online opportunities to do so, as well.
