- FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Mesta Park Neighborhood Association will present the 2017 Mesta Festa Sept. 24 from noon to 6 p.m. at Perle Mesta Park, NW 18 and Shartel Avenue.

Mesta Festa is free and open to the public, and will include a beer and wine garden, outdoor games like bocce ball and kubb, arts and crafts, live music and dance performances, sand volleyball, local artist and pop-up shopping booths, as well as food trucks.

Funds raised at Mesta Festa benefit the Mesta Park Neighborhood Association, contributing a significant portion to its annual budget.

“When Mesta Festa started, one of our founding organizers owned The Brew Shop and Oklahoma laws had recently allowed microbreweries to brew and serve beer at their pubs,' committee member Harry Meister said. "We have been blessed since our beginning to have Oklahoma breweries like Bricktown Brewery, Belle Isle and Choc as major sponsors and have added sponsors along the way such as COOP Aleworks, Elk Valley, Iron Monk, Prairie Artisan Ales and many others.

"We are also excited for 2017 to have Red Earth Brewers, a local brewing society whose members will be offering a wide variety of styles at Mesta Festa."

Admission to the beer and wine garden will require a wristband, available for purchase at the entrance to the garden for $20 per person. Only those 21 and older may enter the beer and wine garden. Mesta Festa T-shirts also will be available for sale on the day of the event. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.
