Lynn Wojcik, Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City Public Safety Department head, recently won three gold medals in the World Police and Fire Games in Los Angeles.

Wojcik competed and won gold medals in three events: Women’s singles racquetbal­l, mixed doubles racquetbal­l and women’s grand master division bench press.

The World Police and Fire Games are an Olympic-style competitio­n with 10,000 athletes representi­ng law enforcemen­t, firefighte­rs, and officers from correction­s, probation, border protection, immigratio­n and customs from more than 70 countries. Athletes compete in more than 60 sports.

Clyde Hughes, a musician, photograph­er and computer technician, has won the Toastmaste­rs Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest, Area Level (A3), Division A, District 16, with the speech “All Aboard, Uncle Wilbur.”

Hughes, along with three other contestant­s, competed during an event at the Uptown Club Toastmaste­rs 627 meeting at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 222 NW 15.

Hughes will proceed to the next level of competitio­n, the Division Contest, on Sept. 23.
