RYAN ABER'S AP TOP 25 VOTE
After two weeks, I had a big shakeup in my poll as I started from scratch without using the previous week's vote as a template. That's my plan moving forward every week from here out.
To me, Alabama is still the most impressive team to this point, having beaten a Florida State team that looked extremely good defensively in the opener.
But Oklahoma's win Saturday night at Ohio State vaulted the Sooners all the way to No. 2 on my chart.
Clemson and USC were both impressive Saturday as well, putting them in the other top four spots.
I came to realize this week that I had undervalued Michigan's win over Florida in the opener, so though I still have questions about the Wolverines' offense, their win put them at No. 6.
Georgia is a team I've liked from the start, and winning at Notre Dame with a new quarterback keeps the Bulldogs high.
I still have Florida State in my top 10 because of the strength of its defense but I'm interested to see how the Seminoles' offense performs moving forward.
West Virginia is safely in my poll even with its loss to Virginia Tech because, one, the Mountaineers challenged themselves and, two, they hung with the Hokies and nearly pulled off that win. And I think Virginia Tech is a very solid team.
I'm uneasy about each of the final three spots in the poll, with Utah, Florida and Washington State needing to do something to stay ranked moving forward, especially with other teams building stronger resumes.
