The Oklahoman’s top 10 games for Week 3
Week 3 is the final step to prepare a team for upcoming district play, and this year’s matchups don’t disappoint.
From rivalries to powerhouse programs meeting, there’s plenty of entertainment value. Here is a look at The Oklahoman’s top 10 games for Week 3:
1. Class 5A No. 1 Carl Albert (2-0) at 5A No. 3 Ardmore (2-0)
The Titans turned this into a rout last season, but hard to ignore two powerful programs meeting in a possible postseason preview.
2. Class 6A-II No. 1 Bixby (1-1) at 6A-II No. 6 Putnam City (2-0), Thursday
Bixby’s offense line, led by OSU commitment Bryce Bray, squares off against Putnam City’s defensive line led by OU commitment Ron Tatum III. May not get a better matchup all year.
3. Class 3A No. 3 John Marshall (1-1) at Class 3A No. 6 Sulphur (3-0)
It’s become a big rivalry between the two schools, and now it features OSU commitment Jacob Farrell and wrecking ball Devonte Lee facing off.
4. Class 2A No. 1 Millwood (2-0) at Class 4A No. 5 Cascia Hall (1-1)
Millwood made a statement against Douglass, now it can make another against a perennial Class 4A contender.
5. Class 2A No. 5 Davis (1-1) at Class 4A No. 3 Heritage Hall (2-0)
It’s become an annual matchup, and easily one of the most entertaining. The Chargers’ high-flying athleticism against Davis’ triple option never disappoints.
6. Class 6A-I No. 7 Edmond Santa Fe (2-1) at 6A-I No. 9 Norman North (1-1)
Edmond Santa Fe has been picking up steam and Norman North has struggled. Still, this features two teams likely to make the playoffs.
7. Class 6A-I No. 5 Jenks (0-3) at Springdale, Ark. Har-Ber (2-0)
Jenks continues the state’s toughest non-district schedule, this time on the road against one of Arkansas’ top programs.
8. Class 5A No. 6 Del City (1-1) at Class 6A-II No. 3 Midwest City (1-1)
Onemoretraditionalnondistrict rivalry matchup between the two Mid-Del programs. Next year, this one moves to district play.
9. Class 3A No. 4 Kingfisher (3-0) at Class 4A No. 9 Bethany (2-0)
Both teams have started the year on fire, and this matchup features two star running backs in Kingfisher’s Cole Crosswhite and Bethany’s Payton Harrell.
10. Class B No. 2 Davenport (2-0) at Class B No. 7 Alex (2-0)
Davenport has beaten one top-10 team already. Now it gets a crack at another in a possible playoff preview.
