The Oklahoman

Addition of Chenise Delce boosts the already powerful Carl Albert

Chenise Delce waited more than a year to get back in the circle for a varsity game at Carl Albert, her new home.

Opponents certainly didn’t miss her.

Delce, The Oklahoman’s Big All-City Player of the Year in 2015, returned with a vengeance after missing the past year due to transfer rules.

The powerful pitcher tossed four shutouts, including a perfect game. She threw a no-hitter last Thursday in her debut against Noble. She also led the way past Mustang.

“Definitely dominant,” Carl Albert coach Colin White said. “Nobody’s touching her.”

Delce had been dominant in the past, leading the way for Choctaw’s 2015 Class 6A state championship. Now, she’s in Class 5A. That makes the Titans (16-2) the favorite to win the state title next month.

Of course, they were already strong without her. Hannah Williams has pitched well all season. Oklahoma commit Audrie LaValley has been huge, too. She’s homered three times in the past two games.

“We were a pretty stinking good team before Chenise came along,” White said. “Throw her in the mix and we’re that much better.”

Yukon keeps rolling

Seventeen games into the season and Yukon is still undefeated.

It’s been an impressive season for the Millers, and last week was no different. They won all three games by a combined score of 34-4, including a 21-0 rout of Norman North in a district matchup.

Against North, Breley Webb and Bre Johnson combined for a no-hitter. Webb also drove in five runs.

Tuesday, Yukon dominated perennial power Moore, 9-2. In the three-game stretch, it also beat Westmoore 4-2.
