ACHIEVERS
Rebekah Ebbs, Urban Lawn & Landscape Inc. owner, recently received the Honorary Eagle Award, the highest award given to a Harding Charter Preparatory High School community member.
Presenting the award at the Welcome-Back Assembly before a crowd of more than 500 students, faculty, staff members and stakeholders, was Principal Mylo Miller.
Ebbs said her company became involved with Harding Charter Prep through the passion of a parent, Laurie Williams, whose student, Makenzie, is a sophomore at the school.
"This parent’s passion to want to give back to the school, along with her appreciation of how it has transformed her daughter’s education, truly made my husband and I want to be a part of this community," Ebbs said.
“We (our company) repaired the irrigation (system), installed new controller boxes and rain/freeze sensors," she said. "After that, the school provided the funds to buy the sod, we provided the labor to lay it. We also installed the granite around the benches (on the Shartel Avenue side) to hopefully deter the kids from walking on the grass.”
The Honorary Eagle Award was started in 2015 as a way to demonstrate appreciation for individuals whose charitable contributions made a schoolwide impact, the principal said.
