Body of 19-year-old found in OKC park
Wilson Henry Perez never made it to the city’s south side Saturday night to watch a boxing match as he’d planned.
Instead, the 19-yearold’s uncle found his lifeless body Sunday afternoon in a northwest Oklahoma City park, aunt Carrie Perez said.
Wilson Perez had come to his aunt and uncle’s house, but left with a friend to meet a girl in Harlow Park, 4800 NW 19. While there about 10 p.m., they encountered two masked men armed with guns. The friends ran in different directions and didn’t see each other again that night, Carrie Perez said.
When Wilson Perez didn’t come home and didn’t answer his cellphone Sunday morning, family members called police to file a missing person’s report. About 2 p.m., as they waited for an officer to take the report, Wilson Perez’s uncle and brother found his body in a wooded area, Carrie Perez said.
The family knows the friend, but not the name of the girl, she said.
The family also has no idea what the motive in Perez’s death could be, painting a picture of a man who loved sports and had no criminal record.
“He was really into soccer,” his aunt said. “They played soccer in this same park all the time. Probably almost every Saturday.”
“He was a big Barcelona fan,” she said.
Police did not release details about trauma to the body. The state medical examiner will determine cause of death.
