Mike Boynton is on the scoreboard, the recruiting scoreboard, in a big way.

The first-year OSU basketball coach landed his first commitment Sunday, getting a pledge from Florida shooting guard Antwann Jones, a national Top 100 player in the 2018 class.

Jones addresses Boynton’s bid to add bigger guards as a 6-foot-6, 210-pound prospect. He’s listed as a four-star prospect who ranks No. 67 nationally according to 247Sports.com.

Jones, who plays at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, chose the Cowboys after narrowing his list to OSU, Memphis, North Carolina State and Kansas last week.

Boynton had attracted two key transfers to OSU in Kendall Smith and Michael Weathers, yet hadn’t yet received his first recruiting addition until Jones made his announcement Sunday.

Cowboys coaches remain busy, especially on the East Coast, where assistants Lamont Evans and David Kontaxis have deep ties.

And they are getting the attention of elite prospects.

OSU is one of six finalists for Oak Hill Academy (Va.) four-star center David McCormack, a 6-9, 290pound big man that’s been missing in the program. McCormack, ranked No. 42, has set an official visit to Stillwater for Oct. 13, which is Homecoming and Hoops weekend.

Four-star point guard Elijah Weaver from Oldsmar, Fla., the No. 36-ranked prospect nationally, is visiting this weekend.
