The killer stood over his victim and said “I have to do you,” then shot the man as he pleaded for his life, according to witnesses.

Police on Wednesday afternoon arrested Darris Antonio Brooks, 32, in connection with the Saturday afternoon shooting death of Noah Ruff, 33, in the 2000 block of NE 26.

The shooter took Ruff’s tennis shoes and pants before shooting him multiple times. Ruff died later at a hospital, police reported. Details were included in an arrest warrant affidavit filed Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court.

Police obtained surveillance video from a store about a block away from the shooting scene that showed Brooks wearing the same clothing witnesses described the shooter as wearing. A witness told police the shooting was “over a drug debt,” according to the affidavit.

Brooks was arrested without incident at an Oklahoma City home, a police spokesman said. Brooks is also known as “Termite” and is a member of the Neighborhood 90 Crip Gang, according to the affidavit.

He was being held Thursday without bail in the Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint. Brooks also had outstanding warrants on complaints of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Brooks was charged in July in Oklahoma County District Court with felony possession of PCP, according to Oklahoma Supreme Court Network records online.
