Filmgoers in Oklahoma City will unite with more than 100,000 film lovers around the world when the 20th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival screens this weekend at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, 415 Couch Drive.
The Final 10 short films are screened simultaneously across the world during a one-week period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating cinema, according to a news release.
The short films will screen at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Friday; at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday; and at 2 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the OKC museum’s Samuel Roberts Noble Theater.
The 10 Manhattan Short finalists hail from nine countries, with films from Syria, Latvia and Georgia representing their respective countries for the first time in this event. Two short films hail from Spain, the only country with multiple Final 10 selections.
All Final 10 short films will become Oscar-qualified, meaning they will be automatically eligible for an Academy Award nomination, by screening for a week at Arena Cinelounge in Hollywood.
The winners will be announced at 9 a.m. Oct. 9 at www.ManhattanShort.com.
