Band to bring funkier sound to Tower Theatre

Soulful rock ‘n’ roll band Matt Stansberry & The Romance will bring the funky sounds of its new double LP “Past Heartache, Present Hope & Future Love” to the Tower Theatre, 425 NW 23, for a show at 8 p.m. Saturday at the historic venue.

OKC museum hosts short film festival

Filmgoers in Oklahoma City will unite with more than 100,000 film lovers around the world when the 20th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival screens this weekend at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, 415 Couch Drive.

The Final 10 short films are screened simultaneo­usly across the world during a oneweek period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participat­ing cinema, according to a news release.

The short films will screen at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Friday; at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday; and at 2 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the OKC museum’s Samuel Roberts Noble Theater.

The winners will be announced at 9 a.m. Oct. 9 at www.ManhattanS­hort.com.

Tulsa to see a Strait rarity

TULSA — George Strait will take the stage once again at Tulsa’s BOK Center on June 2 for “Strait Down Route 66,” an exclusive one-night engagement in Oklahoma presented by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

“Strait Down Route 66” at BOK Center will be one of Strait’s rare live performanc­es set for 2018 and one of only two arena shows planned. Western swing band Asleep At The Wheel will provide support.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and will be available at www.bokcenter.com, www.straitdown­route66.com, or 866-726-5287. Tickets will not be available to be purchased at the Arby’s Box Office on Friday.
