Animal blessing events are set

St. Christophe­r’s Episcopal Church in Midwest City will host a Blessing of the Animals at two locations this year.

The church will host a “come and go” blessing event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Tony’s Tree Plantation, 3801 S Post Road.

The second blessing ceremony will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Rotary Pavilion at Joe B. Barnes Regional Park in Midwest City. The event on Sunday will include a brief worship service celebratin­g the life of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

Clinic to offer flu shots

Free flu vaccinatio­ns will be offered to adults from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oklahoma City Shifa Clinic, 3840 N St. Clair.

The flu shots are being offered through a partnershi­p between the clinic, which is run by Oklahoma City chapter of Islamic Circle of North America Relief (ICNA Relief) and the Oklahoma Chapter of the Associatio­n of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North American (APPNA).

No appointmen­t is necessary for the flu vaccinatio­n clinic and flu shots will be administer­ed on first come, first served basis.

Music event, car show are planned

DEL CITY — The Del City Gospel Singing will be 7 p.m. Saturday at Del City Church of the Nazarene, 4701 SE 26.

Guest singers will be Blake and Jenna Bolerjack, the Master’s Touch and New Revival. Admission is free. A love offering will be taken.

The church will host its annual car show on Sunday. Registrati­on begins at 9 a.m. No entry fees are required.

A worship service will be at 11 a.m. Lunch and the car show will be on the church grounds at noon. For more informatio­n, call 677-2330.

Interfaith group hosts annual dinner

The Interfaith Alliance of Oklahoma will host its annual Awards Dinner on Oct. 17 at the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr.

The buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., and a program will be at 7 p.m. Guest speaker is Brady Henderson, legal counsel for the ACLU.

Tickets are $50 per person and must be reserved by Oct. 15. Table sponsorshi­ps are available.

Preacher will be guest lecturer

The Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber will be the featured lecturer at the annual Willson Lectures set for 1, 2:30 and 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Oklahoma City University.

Bolz-Weber is founding pastor of House for All Sinners and Saints in Denver, Colorado.

The presentati­ons will be in the Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel on NW 23, between Blackwelde­r and Kentucky avenues.

Jewish Federation volunteers at food bank

The Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City recently held its annual Jewish community volunteer day at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Known as the “Take A Bite Out of Hunger” project, the event was Oct. 1 and was part of the federation’s annual Mitzvah Corps projects.

Roberta Clark, the federation’s executive director, said 130 members of the Jewish community came together to sort and pack meals for the needy.

NORMAN — The congregati­on of United Church of Norman UCC, 1017 N Elm, recently changed its name to First Congregati­onal Church of Norman UCC.

To help celebrate the church’s new name, the church will host a Sunday series entitled “Fall Series of Guest Pastors.” The series will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Mike Bumgarner as guest speaker.
