The Oklahoman’s top 10 games of Week 7

- BY JACOB UNRUH, STAFF WRITER

District races are tightening, but it’s two state championship game rematches that take center stage.

Week 7 has it all Thursday and Friday for high school football fans. Some districts could be decided and some could be thrown into chaos. Here is a look at The

Oklahoman’s top 10 games of Week 7.

1. Class 4A No. 2 Oologah (6-0) at 4A No. 1 Wagoner (6-0)

Three straight championship games have featured these district rivals. Wagoner has won each time. Now, Oologah has a chance to end Wagoner’s 11-man state record winning streak one week after it was set.

2. Class 6A-I No. 5 Norman North (5-1) at 6A-1 No. 1 Tulsa Union (6-1)

A rematch of last season’s championship game, Norman North has improved each week since losing to Yukon. An upset would put the Timberwolves in control of the district heading into next week’s matchup with Owasso.

3. Class A No. 1 Afton (5-0) at A No. 3 Rejoice Christian (6-0)

Considered by some the two best teams in Class A, there could be plenty of offense. Afton averages 54.4 points and Rejoice Christian, Owasso’s other power, averages 46.3.

4. Class 5A No. 5 Tulsa Kelley (5-1) at 5A No. 6 Skiatook (5-1)

Winner of this is the frontrunner for the district title and for now holds the title of the classification’s best team in the east. Both have shown ability to win close games, too.

5. Class 3A No. 6 Plainview (5-1) at 3A No. 8 Sulphur (6-1)

A nice rivalry that has huge implications on the district title, Plainview hasn’t allowed a point in two weeks while Sulphur has scored 54 and 55 in that span.

6. Class 6A-I No. 7 Edmond Santa Fe (4-2) at 6A-1 No. 4 Broken Arrow (2-4)

Broken Arrow sent a message in a rout of Westmoore that the east is still powerful. Edmond Santa Fe is coming off a bye week ready to prove that wrong and improve its district title chances.

7. Class 4A No. 4 Blanchard (6-0) at 4A No. 7 Bethany (5-1)

A win pushes Blanchard one step closer to the district title. A win for Bethany keeps the district race wide open with powers Ada and Tuttle still involved.

8. Class 4A No. 10 Ada (4-2) at 4A Tuttle (3-3)

Two traditional powerhouse programs meet still in the thick of a district title race. That only adds to the intrigue of the history involved.

9. Class 2A No. 6 Luther (6-0) at 2A No. 8 Christian Heritage (5-2)

Two of small school’s top quarterback-receiver combinations meet head in the heat of a district title race. Luther’s Peyton Wilson and Dakota Pridemore against CHA’s Camden Cargill and Bridge Bullard.

10. Class 6A-II No. 7 Choctaw (4-2) at 6A-II No. 4 Stillwater (5-1), Thursday

As the District 6A-II-1 district race begins to take shape, this game has huge implications for the playoff seeding. A win for either keeps it in the district title hunt with big games still ahead.

Note: All games Friday unless noted.
