WARR ACRES Charles Ray Russell passed away on October 6, 2017, in Blackwell, OK at the age of 86. Charles was born on May 24, 1931, in Norman, OK to Loran Albert and Ruth Ann Smith Russell. He graduated from Norman High School in 1949 and then joined the Army and served from 1949 until 1952. Upon returning home, he attended The University of Oklahoma for a year and then a technical college where he studied refrigerat­ion and heating, graduating in 1956. His work career included Govenair and then he retired from Temtrol. Charles loved OU football, playing golf, fishing and traveling the world with his late wife, Elaine. He was one of the first of 50 families to register with the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was an active member of the church and volunteere­d at the school for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; Elaine, his wife of almost 63 years; daughter, Teresa McCoy; son, James Russell; sister, Lucille Goodwin; and great- granddaugh­ter, Hannah Russell. He is survived by two daughters, Pam Cantillon and husband Rich, of Blackwell; and Sherri Davis and husband Chad, of Yukon; brother, Don Russell and wife Bobbie, of Seal Beach, CA; eight grandchild­ren and seven greatgrand­children. A Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in the Guardian West Chapel with a Mass at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Resurrecti­on Memorial Cemetery.
