HEALTH BRIEFS
Training on OCD is available
The Peace of Mind Foundation will offer two workshops about obsessive-compulsive disorder Saturday at the Sheraton Downtown Hotel, 1 N Broadway.
OCD is a type of anxiety disorder. People who have it experience unpleasant and frightening thoughts, such as that objects are contaminated, that they will harm someone or that something bad will happen if they don’t follow certain rituals. They also feel an excessive need to perform behaviors that make them feel safe, like cleaning or checking. Many people experience relief from medication, therapy or both.
The morning session, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon, will cover basic information about OCD and its treatment. The afternoon session focuses on personal experiences of living with OCD.
