Yukon’s flexbone offense continues to produce big numbers.

The Millers rebounded from two straight losses with a 56-28 rout of Norman that produced 557 yards — 461 of which came on the ground.

This comes two weeks after putting up 387 rushing yards in a loss to Broken Arrow.

But against Norman, the Millers’ offense looked as first-year coach Jeremy Reed intended.

Quarterback Perry Olsen was dynamic with 13 carries for 214 yards and three touchdowns. He also completed 2 of 4 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Olsen exited the game after the first offensive series in the second half with the game well in hand.

Yukon (3-3) hits the road Friday to face Edmond Memorial at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Mustang looks to build momentum after snapping losing streak

After a stretch of games where Mustang lost to Stillwater, Owasso and Norman North, the Bronchos were looking to get right last week when they traveled to Edmond North.

But a rough first half saw Mustang down 12-6 at the break and coach Jeremy Dombek said he was starting to worry.

“I was absolutely concerned,” Dombek said. “But I also trust our players and coaches. Thankfully we turned it around.”

Mustang scored 21-straight points to open up the second half, including two Carlos Thomas touchdown runs and one run from quarterback Brayden Garrett.

“I was really proud of our kids because they could have easily laid down,” Dombek said. “After three straight tough losses, they showed a lot of heart and really battled back.”

Dombek said things are looking up too as they prepare to host Moore this week. After battling a few nagging injuries early this year, Thomas is starting to find his groove again, Dombek said.

“He’s starting to click and our offensive line is really starting to play well too,” he said. “We have another tough one against Moore, but that’s what makes playing at the highest level of football so fun.”
