Inmates escape to ‘smoke weed,’ visit girlfriends, sheriff says

Two men who briefly escaped the Choctaw County jail Wednesday to visit their girlfriends and “smoke weed” could be facing additional charges for attending to their love lives, Sheriff Terry Park said.

Park said Rakeem Lennox and Harley Davidson waited for jail staff to leave the area near their room about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and went into the booking room to steal a door key to the laundry room. From there, the two trusties fled and went to visit their girlfriends and smoke marijuana before walking back to the jail just after midnight.

“(They) weren’t quite trusties to be trusted,” Park said of the two men, who could now be facing charges for their escape.

Both men were in jail for drug possession, he said.
