Rising costs?

Higher gasoline and housing costs are driving prices higher overall for U.S. consumers.

The consumer price index, which measures inflation at the consumer level, rose 0.4 percent in August, the biggest increase in seven months. Economists project that price hikes accelerated last month by 0.6 percent. The Labor Department delivers its September snapshot of consumer prices today.
