Best Buy offers same-day delivery

Best Buy is offering same-day delivery to its customers in Oklahoma City.

Best Buy is offering the service — which will be free from now through Christmas Eve (it normally costs $5.99) — for orders placed on the company’s website, bestbuy.com.

Officials said customers can place an order as late as 3 p.m. local time on Mondays through Saturdays and receive the package at their homes or offices by 9 p.m. that night.

Same-day delivery also is available on Sundays, though the ordering deadline is an hour earlier, they said.

On the website, eligible products (there are some size and weight restrictions) that are bought can be delivered to users who select same-day service as they are going through the checkout process.

The deliveries will be made by crowdsourcing providers, who will ask customers for a signature on a mobile device when the delivery is made.

If the buyer isn’t home or if the business is closed and the delivery worker can’t find a safe place to leave the item, an attempt will be made by phone to reach the buyer.

If that’s unsuccessful, the product will be returned to the store and the buyer will be refunded his or her delivery charge (when applicable) within 24 hours, officials said.

Walmart, Sam’s extend fundraising drive

Walmart and Sam’s Club are extending their fundraising drive through Friday for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, officials have announced.

During the past 30 years, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members have helped raise nearly $1 billion for the foundation and its hospitals in the U.S. and Canada.

Money is raised primarily through a register campaign, where customers and members are given the option to donate $1 or more when they check out.

Associates also fundraise in other creative ways including bake sales, contests and events.

Officials said money raised at local stores will be directed to the local member hospital — in this case, the Children’s Hospital Foundation at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center.

Funds are used to pay for equipment, research, charitable care and a variety of other needs the foundation addresses, they said.
