UCO to host financial aid workshop for high school students

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

The University of Central Oklahoma hopes to help make college more affordable by sharing tips and information about financial aid to current high school seniors and their parents at a free financial aid workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Education Building on the west side of UCO’s campus, just off University Drive.

The workshop will streamline the process of applying for financial aid no matter where the student plans to attend college. Parents and students can connect with financial aid experts, getting on-site assistance for filling out financial aid applications and helpful hints about making financial aid application processes easier.

Federal student aid programs include loans, grants and work-study. The workshop offers students and parents a better understanding of each program and how they work in conjunction with any tuition waivers or scholarships a student may be eligible to receive whether he or she attends UCO or another college or university.

Those attending the workshop should bring a copy of their 2016 tax return to complete the 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Attendees do not need to preregister and casual dress is encouraged.
