A gathering of renown creatives will be featured Monday in the inaugural “Creativity Beta” conference hosted by StarSpace46, Creative Oklahoma and OKSessions.

Creative Oklahoma will lead hands-on workshops on Monday and facilitate participant-led direct action addressing specific items of community concern, with lunch and dinner to be provided by The Jones Assembly.

Speakers at the daylong conference at The Jones Assembly include Matt Homann, founder of St. Louis-based Filament; Andrew Milo, director of customer engineering at Google; local chef Jonathan Stranger; and Piyush Patel, speaker and author who sold his Oklahoma City technology firm, Digital Tutors, for $45 million.

“This is a showcase of Oklahoma’s exceptional creative talent — the doers who are on the ground actually making things happen,” said Tommy Yi, co-founder of the co-working cooperative StarSpace46. “We are celebrating and spotlighting these creative leaders and companies who are leading Oklahoma forward.”

Creative rights attorney Doug Sorroco, conference co-chair, said the panels and interaction are designed to help entrepreneurs and creative talent in the city turn their ideas and dreams into reality.

“Next week is Global Entrepreneurship Week,” Sorocco said. “StarSpace and Creative Oklahoma wanted to put on a kickoff conference celebrating the great diversity of creative and innovative talent we have in Oklahoma.”

Sorocco said topics will include sharpening focus on ideas.

“Matt Homann is one of the premier idea generators in the United States today, so much so he has what he calls, ‘Idea Surplus Disorder,’ ” Sorocco said. “Matt will be sharing with us how to identify Idea Surplus Disorder and ways to do more and how to actually execute.”

Creativity Beta tickets are available via Eventbrite or creativitybeta. com for $150. Limited VIP tickets are available for special access to viewing areas and reserved booth seating during the event.
