Wisconsin loses Cephus for season
Star receiver Quintez Cephus will miss the rest of the season for Wisconsin because of an injured right leg.
Coach Paul Chryst said after practice Thursday that Cephus had surgery this week.
He leads the Badgers in receiving yards and touchdown catches. The sophomore was hurt during the 45-17 win last week at Indiana. Cephus finishes the year with 30 catches for 501 yards and six scores.
Wisconsin also remains without senior wideout Jazz Peavy because of a right leg injury.
The Badgers (9-0, 6-0, No. 8 CFP) host No. 25 Iowa (6-3, 3-3, No. 20 CFP) on Saturday.
Razorbacks undecided on starting QB
Bret Bielema insists he's not keeping a secret about who will be Arkansas' quarterback against LSU on Saturday.
The Razorbacks coach, however, is intent on letting a full week of practice play out before he decides between senior Austin Allen and freshman Cole Kelley.
It's a choice that would have been a no-brainer for Bielema and in the eyes of most Arkansas (4-5, 1-4 Southeastern Conference) followers at any point before Allen hurt a shoulder against South Carolina on Oct. 7.
Now, with Kelley having played well in Allen's fourgame absence — including leading back-to-back comeback victories over Mississippi and Coastal Carolina — no one is quite sure if Bielema is playing mind games with the Tigers (6-3, 3-2) or being sincere about the possibility of Arkansas' first quarterback controversy in his five seasons at the school.
"The good news is we've got a couple of good quarterbacks and you obviously feel great about either one of them, whoever it is," Bielema said.
Ex-Tennessee staffer accuses Butch Jones of mental abuse
Former Tennessee All-America offensive lineman Antone Davis says he endured "constant intimidation, bullying and mental abuse" from Volunteers coach Butch Jones while working for him.
Tennessee announced last week Davis is stepping down as the Tennessee football program's Vol For Life coordinator, effective Nov. 15.
In a resignation letter obtained through a public records request, Davis calls his tenure "one of the worst work experiences I have ever had."
Jones said in a statement that "I wish Antone Davis well and thank him for his work as Tennessee's Vol For Life coordinator."
Knoxville radio station WNML first reported the contents of Davis' resignation letter.
Davis' complaints include not receiving a pay raise other than universitywide increases since joining Tennessee's staff in 2012.
Davis played for Tennessee from 1987-90.
