Butterfield Memorial Foundation awards grants

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Oklahoma City’s Butterfield Memorial Foundation recently awarded grants totaling more than $18,000 for the purpose of providing training and education opportunities for Christian charitable clinics across the state of Oklahoma and internationally.

Requests for the grants varied from patient simulators to conferences and specific training for staff, yet the impact is expected to be significant.

Grants were awarded to Good Shepherd Ministries of Oklahoma, Samaritan Medical Outreach Ministries, Crossings Community Clinic, Arubah Community Clinic (Collinsville), Good Shepherd Community Clinic (Ardmore) and Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.

Butterfield Memorial Foundation was created in 2005, subsequent to the sale of Deaconess Hospital to a national health care corporation. The foundation remains active in the Oklahoma City metro area, fulfilling the century-old Deaconess Hospital legacy of advocating for health needs of the underserved in the community.

In concert with the Free Methodist Church of North America, the mission is now being fulfilled through a primary emphasis on direct access to medical care as it is provided by Christian nonprofits.

Encouraging the development of more Christian medical care providers for Oklahoma is a strong priority of the foundation.
