Cold frames are a great way to extend the growing season since they act as mini-greenhouse­s for your plants. They’re especially great for cold-season vegetables like spinach, arugula and kale. Join Steve Upson, horticultu­re consultant with the Noble Research Institute, as he walks through the steps of building your own cold frame to take home. Cost is $80 for members, $100 for nonmembers. In this interactiv­e drop-in demonstrat­ion, learn about the long-blooming Paperwhite, which can bloom for up to six weeks and the showstoppi­ng Amaryllis. Dr. Ann Fleener, Myriad Gardens director of education, will discuss care tips and guide you through potting up your own bulbs to enjoy at home. Cost is $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers.
