The Oklahoman

Ryan Aber’s AP Top 25 vote

- Ryan Aber raber@ oklahoman.com

What was supposed to be a ho-hum weekend of college football wound up being largely that, with Oklahoma State’s loss to Kansas State the only significant mover of this week’s rankings. But there are a few tweaks.

First, I moved Wisconsin up a spot to No. 4, flipping it with Clemson. The Tigers’ schedule, which looked really tough early, appears less so looking back on it, while Wisconsin’s has improved especially over the past two weeks. Michigan isn’t great, but beating the Wolverines a week after taking down Iowa is a help.

I contemplated making a change at No. 1 after Miami struggled with Virginia, but the Hurricanes’ defense came through, and I still like their resume a touch better. However, with Alabama playing Auburn this week and Miami playing Pitt, there’s a good chance that if both win this week, the Crimson Tide could be my new No. 1 next week.

I did flip Notre Dame and USC in my top 10 after realizing last week that I had a two-loss Fighting Irish right behind a twoloss Trojans team that Notre Dame beat. So that was more correction than anything else.

Oklahoma State dropped to No. 22 from No. 11 after the loss to Kansas State. Iowa State and Boise State are my newcomers to the poll.
