Barbara Berkey Boss, 82, passed away peacefully on Nov. 21, 2017. Barbara was born Feb. 4, 1935, in Minneapoli­s, MN to Warren & Kathryn Berkey. Barbara graduated Hopkins High School in 1952. She attended the University of Minnesota, where she was president of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in June of 1956. Barbara married Andrew Douglass Boss July 7, 1956, and they had been married for 61 years. Barbara and her husband lived in The Trails neighborho­od of Edmond for 38 years until their health declined in 2015. Barbara's greatest love was spending time with her family. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, where she supported her children's activities, volunteere­d as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader, was homeroom mom, and worked at voting polls in various elections. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, when she would light up both the interior and exterior of the house with many lights, sounds, and decoration­s. After her husband retired, she spent many weeks touring the country with him in their RV with their RV group, the "Hoot Owls." Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Warren & Kathryn Berkey; her in-laws, Kenneth & Margaret Boss; and her granddaugh­ter, Stephanie Boss. She is survived by husband, Andrew Boss; brother, David Berkey, of Soquel, CA; her daughter, Brenda Hansel, of Oklahoma City; son, Robert Boss & wife Rindy, of Wichita; grandchild­ren, Kyle Hansel & wife Caroline, of Norman; Keri Hansel, of Dallas; Breanna Boss, Andrew Boss, Lori Boss, and Steven Boss, of Wichita. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie, OK, where Barbara spent her final months. Also, special thanks to Companion Hospice, especially Barbara's hospice nurse, Kris, for their compassion­ate care at the end of Barbara's life. Barbara especially enjoyed the visits from hospice volunteer Donna and her therapy dog Mojo, a golden retriever. Private burial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville, MN at a later date.
