Kenya Bailey, Midwest City Class: Senior

The Story: Qualified as an individual at state after a strong senior season and took home a ninthplace finish with a time of 19:16.30

Elysia Burgos, Deer Creek Class: Senior

The Story: Capped a dominating career at Deer Creek with a sixth-place finish at the state meet with a time of 19:04.42

Shay Burke, Edmond Santa Fe Class: Junior

The Story: Ran one of her fastest times of the season with a 19:24.77 to finish eleventh and complete a strong season that featured several top 10 performanc­es. Aubrey Byers, Deer Creek Class: Freshman

The Story: Wrapped up an impressive first season with an eighthplac­e finish at the state meet with a time of 19:10.72

Runner of the year: Emma Downing, Mustang Class: Senior

The Story: Near the top of every race just about all year, Downing helped Mustang grab the team third place when she ran her fastest time of 18:31.55 to finish second.

Sophia Maag, Jr., Norman Class: Junior

The Story: Dominant all season, highlighte­d by a top 15 performanc­e at the Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas, Maag helped deliver the first championsh­ip for Norman in girls cross country in more than 35 years.

Aubrey Schmidt, Washington Class: Senior

The Story: Running a time of 12:11.98 at the state meet in Shawnee, Schmidt placed second and finished in the top five for the third straight season.

Coach of the year:

Scott Monnard, Norman The Story: Despite having a target on their backs, Monnard helped orchestrat­e the first girls cross country championsh­ip for Norman in 36 years, earning the 6A girls championsh­ip with five runners finishing in the top 20.
