A musical being touted as a production for all generations will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at Douglass High School, 900 N Martin Luther King Ave.

The Bethlehem Star Baptist Church Star Theater will present the “Big Momma’s Legacy: A Christmas Experience” in partnership with several northeast metro-area churches who have provided actors and actresses, as well as financial support.

Joseph Smith, a member of Bethlehem Star and one of the production’s project managers, said the musical will chronicle how the death of a parent — Big Momma — has a profound effect on a family. He said the production will include a cast of 35 people and a live band.

Smith said Bethlehem has held similar holiday productions in its building in previous years, but the size of the audience has increasingly grown so much so that a larger venue was needed.

Smith said the transition to the high school venue fits with the mission of the faith-based production.

“Our ministry is focused on going outside the walls of the church,” he said. “We wanted to bring the arts in a Christian format.”

Advance tickets are $10 for adults (13 and older) and $15 at the door. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free. Organizers said children’s tickets are limited to 125 seats per showing. Children must have a ticket to be admitted into the theater.

Tickets may be purchased online at Bethlehem Star Baptist’s website at http://bsbcokc.org/. Other ticket outlets include Final Touch Hair Salon, 725 S Air Depot, Midwest City; City Cuts & Design Group, 2501 NE 23; Bethlehem Star Baptist, 2704 NE 24; New Hope Baptist Church, 1232 NE 7; and Avery African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1425 N Kelham.
