Two Sooners named PFF All-American
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield and tight end Mark Andrews were each named to the Pro Football Focus All-American team Wednesday.
The team is picked according to an on-field performance grade by the site.
Mayfield, who is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday, had the highest grade of any offensive player at 96.2.
Andrews graded out at 88.5.
Two other Big 12 players made the offensive team — Iowa State running back David Montgomery (93.3) and Kansas State offensive tackle Dalton Risner (90.3).
Only Notre Dame joined Oklahoma in having two offensive players on the team.
Kansas State defensive tackle Will Geary (91.6) was the lone Big 12 representative on the defensive team.
Buying tickets for the Rose Bowl?
Counterfeit tickets are regularly a problem for big events and this game figures to be no different.
Fans should be aware that all attendees at the Rose Bowl must have an actual ticket. The game does not accept tickets that are printed at home or ones designed to be scanned from a phone screen.
The current minimum ticket price for the Rose Bowl at VividSeats.com was $205 on Wednesday afternoon, a slight dip from the day before.
Tickets for the other semifinal, the Sugar Bowl, have risen by nearly $30 to $258 for the minimum price.
If the stats from SeatGeek.com are any indication, there will be plenty of Georgia fans at the Rose Bowl.
More than 29 percent of the site’s traffic for Rose Bowl tickets originated in Georgia, nearly three times the amount coming from Oklahoma — 9.98 percent.
Texas has more with 10.77 percent.
Quotable
Paul George, Oklahoma City Thunder star, on Mayfield:
“He just has that ‘it’ about him as far as being a leader. He holds everybody accountable and he’s always ready. … If you’re a team and you want somebody in that spot, he’s the perfect guy for it.”
