JUNE 17 Eagles to land in Oklahoma again

TULSA — After opening the BOK Center in 2008, the Eagles are returning next summer to the Tulsa arena to help celebrate the venue’s 10th anniversary.

Because of the demand for tickets to the Eagles’ sold-out concerts, additional concerts have been added to the band’s 2018 tour, including the June 17 Tulsa show . After the death of co-founder Glenn Frey last year, the Eagles have added Oklahoma native and Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill and Frey’s 24-year-old son, Deacon Frey, to the lineup for the Southern California countryrock band.

The June 17 concert is the fifth show announced for BOK Center’s “10 for 10” concert series in 2018, a planned celebration that will feature 10 blockbuster artists commemorating the arena’s 10th anniversary.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and will be available online at www.ticketmaster. com, at Arby’s Box Office at BOK Center, or by calling 800-745-3000.

Ticket prices range from $99.50 to $229.50.

DEC. 15 OKC to host Cowboy Christmas Ball

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, 1700 NE 63, will host the 23rd annual Express Employment Professionals’ Cowboy Christmas Ball featuring American singer-songwriter Michael Martin Murphey at 7 p.m. Dec. 15. The idea originally was inspired as a grand ball in Anson City, Texas, in 1885 by Star Hotel operator M.G. Rhodes as a way to attract customers and entertain cowhands of the area. Rhodes chose the weekend just before Christmas and began to spread the word far and wide among cowhands in the West — thus a tradition was born, according to a news release.

This year’s yuletide event once again will feature an evening of entertainment for the entire family. Murphey is a multiple Grammy nominee with six gold albums, including “Cowboy Songs,” the first album of cowboy music to achieve gold status since 1959.

Guests can expect an alcohol-free event, including dinner, a visit from Santa and traditional Western songs and dances dating back more than 100 years. The event is open to the public; reservations are required in advance. Tickets are $70 for members, $85 for general admission and $25 for children. For event information or registration, call 478-2250 ext. 219 or go to www.nationalcowboymuseum. org/cowboychristmas.
