NORMAN — When the matchups were first revealed for the College Football Playoff semifinals, the Sugar Bowl quickly sold out and fans looking to get into the Clemson-Alabama matchup sent the prices soaring.

But in the week-plus since, demand for the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl between Oklahoma and Georgia has steadily grown.

As of Tuesday evening, Rose Bowl tickets started at $285 each on Vivid Seats, a popular secondary ticket site. Seats on StubHub.com were available for just under $300.

Seats for the Sugar Bowl started at approximately $250.

At the same time, there were still Rose Bowl tickets available on the primary market, though not without an additional hospitality package that raised the price well above face value. Less than 200 Rose Bowl tickets remained through Ticketmaster, starting at $528 each.

While plenty of fans are still looking to get their hands on Rose Bowl tickets, some are already turning their attention toward the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Jan. 8 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

As of Tuesday afternoon, fans could purchase an “RSVP” for the right to buy a face value ticket for the game — should the Sooners beat Georgia — for $374.40. That value was well behind the other three semifinalists.

Georgia leads the way at $999, followed by Clemson at $760.50 and Alabama at $569.79.

That doesn’t include the ticket price, which start at $375, and if Oklahoma loses, the money put down for an RSVP at cfp-rsvp.com is forfeited.

Tuesday, student tickets for that game went on sale at OU for $575 each.

For both the Rose Bowl and the national title game, 500 students at each of the participating schools will receive free tickets in the Taco Bellsponsored student section.

Those winners — students had to have signed up for the chance by early December — have to pay initially to reserve their spot but the ticket price will be refunded once the tickets are picked up in either Pasadena or Atlanta.

Clemson’s student tickets for a potential CFP National Championship Game are available for $200.

Half of the seats at the 71,000-seat stadium are allocated to fans of the two school’s participating.
