Deputies seize drugs, guns in Tulsa bust
TULSA — Tulsa County sheriff's deputies raided an alleged Irish Mob gang member's residence early Thursday morning after an investigation revealed an alleged plot to smuggle narcotics into the jail.
Deputies served the warrant at Jason Andrew Wood's residence, located in the 2700 block of East Admiral Court, sheriff's office spokeswoman Casey Roebuck said. Wood, 47, was reported to be a "highranking" member of the Irish Mob, Roebuck said.
About five months ago, jail investigators learned of an alleged plot by Wood to smuggle narcotics into the jail in order to sell the substances. Roebuck said he was not successful.
Sheriff's office investigators declined to detail Wood's alleged plan or how they developed the information about it. However, the plan was allegedly developed while Wood was incarcerated in an unrelated case — a shooting with intent to kill charge that was dismissed in April.
Deputies confiscated 11 guns, at least two of which were reported stolen, marijuana, crack cocaine and hundreds of ammunition rounds. Roebuck said the amounts of narcotics were relatively small.
In March, Tulsa Police Department's Bomb Squad removed a grenade from the same house. Police investigators found the grenade while serving a search warrant at Wood's residence in connection with the dismissed shooting case.
At that time, police did not locate any other weapons in the residence.
Police were searching Wood's residence after prosecutors charged him in connection with a March shooting in the 2800 block of East Admiral Court, according to a previous story. A man was found laying on the street with a gunshot wound.
Prosecutors dismissed that charge after a prosecutor's witness "failed to cooperate," according to court records.
Tulsa County deputies booked Wood on Thursday in Tulsajail on an outstanding warrant for possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, according to court records. His bond was set at $4,000. Prosecutors filed the charge Wednesday.
Roebuck said there is a possibility that he will be held on other complaints.
