An Oklahoma publisher has released a digital preview comic for its upcoming comics, including an artist and a writer formerly at Marvel Comics and a New York Times best-selling author.

412 Comics, based in Pocola, is the publisher for “Furie’s Key” and “Feral.”

New York Times bestselling author Karen Travissis the writer of the upcoming monthly series Furie’s Key, with artist Steve Kurth. The pair previously worked together on “G.I. Joe” for IDW. Traviss also wrote “Batman: Arkham Unhinged,” “Wonder Woman” and “Gears of War” for DC Comics. Kurth is also known for his art on “Wolverine,” “X-Men” and “New Mutants.”

“I’m working with an old mate, Steve Kurth, who was also the artist on my G.I. Joe run,” Traviss said in her blog at www.karentraviss.com. “I’ve always been lucky with artists, but sometimes I’m extralucky . ... When Steve draws a character for the first time, no matter how minutely I’ve described them in the script and how well I think I can visualize them, he always manages to present me with a fascinating stranger whose life is etched on their face, and the indefinable magic he brings to the interpretation sets me off on new tangents.”

Inks for “Furie’s Key” are by Allen Martinez, colors by Brian Reber and letters by George E. Warner.

The publisher of 412 Comics, Frank Fentress, graduated from Sallisaw High School. He said he’s been reading comics since a young age and is excited to dive into the industry. Fentress, 43, created “Furie’s Key,” along with Traviss and Kurth.

“Furie’s Key” is described as an epic fantasy as men have defeated the armies of gods and mages, bringing forth an industrial and political revolution. Marlaine Van Asrak, a young soldier, goes on a dangerous quest to find out what happened to her missing brother.

“I’ve been a comic fan since I was a kid and always wanted to make my own,” Fentress told

The Oklahoman in 2017. “So last year I reached out to writers and artists with my characters, stories and plan for a new small press company. They liked it and contacted their friends in the industry and it all ballooned from there.”

The second title featured in the preview is “Feral,” created by Fentress with John Barber and Ron Joseph.

“I’m excited to announce the amazing John Barber will be writing our upcoming comic Feral,” Fentress said via Facebook. “John’s a former Marvel editor and senior editor for IDW. You’ve seen his writing on Transformers, Optimus Prime and Back to the Future for IDW, and Dr. Strange for Marvel.”

The artwork for “Feral” is by Josephwith colors by David Garcia Cruz. Warner provides lettering. Joseph previously illustrated “Nicholas Meyer’s The Seven-Per-Cent Solution” from IDW.

In “Feral,”the small European country Lyonesse is ruled by the German super soldiers known as the Maelstraum during the World War II era.But the people of Lyonesse are different— and one of its defenders, is “Feral.”
