Man’s death investigated as homicide
An Oklahoma City man died after a Tuesday night altercation with a woman.
Officers responding to a call in the area of W Hefner Road and N Pennsylvania Avenue about 10 p.m. Tuesday found found Charles Devon Parker, 24, with critical injuries he suffered in an altercation with Keia Maria Carter, 24.
Parker was taken by ambulance to OU Medical Center, where he died, police report. Officers interviewed Carter and released her.
After further investigation, police will turn the case over to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, who will determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
The death is the third homicide of the year in Oklahoma City said Capt. Bo Mathews. responded to a reported stabbing at a home in the 300 block of E Cedar Avenue. Inside the home, they found Maria H. Giffin with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a hospital, where she died, police said.
Investigators said Giffin was at the home when she was confronted by Katisha Renae Zuniga, 37, and an argument ensued over a cellphone. The argument escalated and both women were in a “pushing match” before Zuniga stabbed Giffin and fled the scene, according to a news release.
Officers were later able to locate Zuniga and she was taken into custody without incident. She is being held at the Garfield County jail on a murder complaint.
