The San Antonio singersongwriter is preparing to release her second solo album, “Luna Negra and the Daughter of the Sun,” Jan. 26 on her Zaino Records label.

Produced by Michael Ramos (known for his work with Patty Griffin, John Mellencamp and The BoDeans), the album features guest vocalist Eliza Gilkyson on the ballad “Strong Enough,” and a duet with the late Austin and Stillwater music

icon Jimmy LaFave titled “Avalanche.” Along with top Austin, Texas, guitarist Charlie Sexton, known for his longtime work with Bob Dylan,” Luna Negra and the Daughter of the Sun” was recorded with such noted musicians as Adrian Quesada (who has played with Prince), David Pulkingham (Patty Griffin and Alejandro Escovedo) and David Garza (Juliana Hatfield and Fiona Apple) as well as Los Lobos drummer Cougar Estrada and Los Lonely Boys bassist Jojo Garza.

The album follows up on Morales’ first solo outing, 2011’s “Beautiful Mistake.” The singer-songwriter launched her solo career after a long run with her older sibling Roberta as Sister Morales, an act that is virtually a Texas independent musical institution known for interweaving rock, blues, pop, Tejano, country and more and touring with such acts as Los Lobos, Allison Krauss and Merle Haggard.
