Two people killed in wrecks
Two people died in Wednesday wrecks along Oklahoma roads, authorities reported.
Maxwell Kade Gower, 26, Oklahoma City
About 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Gower was driving a pickup south on State Highway 2, about two miles north of Porum. The pickup went left of center and struck a tractortrailer, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Gower, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the rig, Dale Lee Carson, 56, of Stilwell, was also wearing a seat belt and was not injured, troopers said.
Shelly Kay Kirkpatrick, 40, Edmond
About 5 p.m. Wednesday, Kirkpatrick was driving a vehicle along 2nd Street in Edmond, between Cedar Mountain Drive and Air Depot Boulevard.
The vehicle went left of center and struck a vehicle head on. Another vehicle swerved to miss the wreck and struck a fourth vehicle, said Jenny Wagnon, spokeswoman for the Edmond Police Department.
Kirkpatrick was pronounced dead at the scene. Three people, including the woman’s husband, Kyle Kirkpatrick, were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries.
Wagnon said Kyle Kirpatrick and another victim remained hospitalized Thursday. The third victim was treated for their injuries and released, Wagnon said.
