Two people killed in wrecks

Two people died in Wednesday wrecks along Oklahoma roads, authoritie­s reported.

Maxwell Kade Gower, 26, Oklahoma City

About 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Gower was driving a pickup south on State Highway 2, about two miles north of Porum. The pickup went left of center and struck a tractortra­iler, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Gower, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the rig, Dale Lee Carson, 56, of Stilwell, was also wearing a seat belt and was not injured, troopers said.

Shelly Kay Kirkpatric­k, 40, Edmond

About 5 p.m. Wednesday, Kirkpatric­k was driving a vehicle along 2nd Street in Edmond, between Cedar Mountain Drive and Air Depot Boulevard.

The vehicle went left of center and struck a vehicle head on. Another vehicle swerved to miss the wreck and struck a fourth vehicle, said Jenny Wagnon, spokeswoma­n for the Edmond Police Department.

Kirkpatric­k was pronounced dead at the scene. Three people, including the woman’s husband, Kyle Kirkpatric­k, were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

Wagnon said Kyle Kirpatrick and another victim remained hospitaliz­ed Thursday. The third victim was treated for their injuries and released, Wagnon said.
