OSU to induct 4 into Hall of Fame
STILLWATER — The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association will install four new members into the OSU Hall of Fame at a ceremony Friday at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.
Sarah Coburn, U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas, Marlin “Ike” Glass Jr. and the late Nancy Randolph Davis are the 2018 honorees.
Induction into the OSU Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the university. It recognizes alumni and former students with outstanding lifetime achievements in society and professional life.
Sarah Coburn, of Tulsa, graduated from OSU in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She has become a renowned operatic soprano performing throughout the country and around the world. Coburn has received awards from The George London Foundation, The Richard Tucker Foundation, The Jensen Foundation, The Liederkranz Foundation, and Opera Index, and was a National Grand Finalist in the 2001 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
Nancy Randolph Davis became the first black student to enroll at what was then Oklahoma A&M College in 1949 and graduated with a master’s degree in home economics in 1952. Davis retired from Oklahoma’s public education system in 1991 after serving 20 years at Dunjee High School and 23 years at Star Spencer High School.
Davis died March 23, 2015. She was recognized and honored multiple times by the state of Oklahoma. Her children, Calvin Davis and Nancy Lynn Davis, will accept her award.
Frank Lucas, of Cheyenne, graduated from OSU in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics. Lucas served more than five years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election in 1994. Lucas represents Oklahoma’s Third Congressional District, which includes all or a portion of 32 counties in northern and western Oklahoma.
Marlin “Ike” Glass Jr., of Newkirk, graduated from OSU in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in personnel administration. Under his leadership, the family trucking company, Glass Trucking, has shown tremendous growth with $8.5 million in annual revenues. Glass served two nine-year terms on the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and was recognized as a state regent emeritus in 2016.
