13 wrestlers to seek title

Oklahoma State will send nine wrestlers and Oklahoma will send four to the NCAA Championsh­ips next week at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Seedings for the event will be announced by the NCAA at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Oklahoma 125-pounder Christian Moody earned an automatic berth, as did Dawaylon Barnes at 165 pounds and Yoanse Mejias 174 pounds.

Davion Jeffries received one of six at-large berths at 149 pounds.

Oklahoma State earned automatic berths in nine at weights, with Nick Piccininni (125), Kaid Brock (133), Dean Heil (141), Boo Lewallen (149), Chandler Rogers (165), Jacobe Smith (174), Keegan Moore (184), Preston Weigel (197) and Derek White (285).

OU men's gymnastics remain No. 1 in national rankings

With no NCAA competitio­n last weekend, the Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team remained No. 1 in this week’s national rankings.

OU’s top-ranked threescore average of 422.133 remains nearly 11 points above the second-best mark.

The Sooners hold the best average on pommel horse (70.283), parallel bars (71.183) and high bar (69.767) and rank second on still rings (70.283) and vault (72.267). They rank fourth on floor (70.167).

OU women’s golf in second place at Hurricane Invitation­al

Oklahoma women’s golf is in second place after completing the second round of the Hurricane Invitation­al on Tuesday in Coral Gables, Florida.

OU carded a 292 (+10) in the second round. With a two-day score of 577 (+1), the Sooners are three shots behind firstplace Miami with 18 holes remaining. OU is scheduled to tee off for the third and final round of the 13-team tournament Wednesday at 6:30 a.m.
