The Oklahoman’s championship picks
Jacob Unruh: Harrah. The defending champions have the talent and experience to run through a loaded tournament, even after losing three times in the final part of the season. Adam Kemp: Harrah. Erika Ankney leads the way offensively for the Panthers, who are also quick to lock down opponents defensively, giving up less than 38 points per game. Three players to watch
Erika Ankney, Sr., Harrah: An Oral Roberts signee, Ankney is a quick, talented guard who leads the team in scoring and is a tenacious defender against opponents’ best player. Zoe Shieldnight, Sr., Fort Gibson: Shieldnight should get comfortable this week at Southern Nazarene. She has signed with SNU and returns as the leader of a team looking to regain the gold ball. Aspen Williston, Sr., Broken Bow: The 6-foot-5 Oklahoma signee is a force inside entering her thirdstraight state tournament appearance. She averages eight rebounds per game. Muldrow’s return
It’s been eight seasons since Muldrow last played in the state tournament.
Once a dominant girls program with three state championships and 17 state appearances, it’s back behind a young core of players.
Star sophomore Taylen Collins, a 6-foot-1 forward, has multiple Division I scholarship offers. Muldrow also starts three juniors and has just two seniors on the roster.
