Conference to celebrate, empower women

Metro Technology Centers is hosting the “2018 Conference for Women” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Springlake Campus STEM Academy, 1901 Springlake Drive. All women 15 and older are encouraged to attend the free event. There will be more than 20 workshops each hour based on topics about health and wellness, legal matters, personal finance and relationsh­ips.

“We have women sharing with women a variety of lessons to help improve your life,” said Elena Troya, event coordinato­r. “Things we wished we had known before instead of learning the hard way.”

Some of the workshops will include: Growing your own backyard buffet, parenting skills, hypertensi­on, self-defense, what to do when AAA doesn’t come, overcoming shyness, Alzheimer’s disease basics, love & fitness, and many more topics. Workshop presenters are profession­als from businesses such as MidFirst Bank, Jigsaw & Associates, city of Oklahoma City Planning, OK Court of Criminal Appeals, Metro Tech, Langston/Coyle Municipal Court and the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
