Edmond Santa Fe’s magical playoff run continues to the title game.
The sixth-ranked Wolves took down No. 1 Broken Arrow 59-54 late Friday night to advance to the Class 6A boys state championship game for the first time since 2015.
Edmond Santa Fe plays Putnam North at 7:45 p.m. Saturday for the title. Santa Fe beat Putnam North in the playoffs.
The Wolves have not lost in the playoffs.
“It’s huge for our program,” Edmond Santa Fe coach Josh Williams said. “Right now, they’re buying what we’re selling.”
On Friday, they got off to a fast start behind South Dakota signee Tauriawn Knight, who scored 14 points in the first half to help Santa Fe to a 10-point lead. He then remained scoreless in the second half as Broken Arrow battled back into the game.
TULSA —
Jaylen O’Conner hit two straight corner 3s in the fourth that gave Santa Fe the lead for good.
“He picked a great time to join the party,” Williams said.
The treys were O’Conner’s lone baskets of the game.
Knight then closed out the game, making 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth and finished with 21 points.
Broken Arrow’s Caleb Huffman kept things interesting after Santa Fe grabbed an eight-point lead with 45.9 seconds left. He hit three straight 3-pointers, each time chipping away at the Wolves’ lead.
Huffman finished with 24, while Josh Robinson added 21. It was a dynamic performance by the duo.
But Santa Fe’s magic was too much.
