Church marks project’s completion

MOORE — St. Andrew’s Community United Methodist Church will celebrate its 25 anniversar­y with an open house set for Sunday, marking the completion of the church’s remodeled worship space at 2727 SW 119.

The open house will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a ribbon cutting at noon. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. Inflatable­s and games for people of all ages will be offered, weather permitting.

Senior adult gathering is planned

The monthly gathering of the Senior Players group will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church, 3131 NW 50.

Senior adults are invited to hear about the benefits of yoga. The gathering will be in the brick building north of the church beside the west parking lot.

St. Patrick’s Mass is offered

The O’Klahoma Irish Heritage Society will host the organizati­on’s annual Mass celebratin­g the feast St. Patrick, patron of Ireland, at noon Friday at St. Joseph’s Old Cathedral, 307 NW 4.

The society will host Oklahoma City’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 10 a.m. March 17 beginning in Stockyards City. The parade will begin at Exchange and Pennsylvan­ia avenues.

Singles group will host gathering

Singles of First Baptist Church of Moore will host “Friday Night Live for Him” on Friday at the church, 301 NE 27.

Dinner will be served for a small charge at 6:30 p.m., followed by praise and worship and a message from David Edwards.

After the message, fellowship and table games will be until 10 p.m.

Ecumenical Holy Week series continues

NORMAN — Since 1963, Christian men of many denominati­ons have gathered at 6:30 a.m. every Wednesday at McFarlin Methodist Church in Norman for a men’s prayer breakfast.

The group’s ecumenical Holy Week program will continue this year on March 26, with Joe Sanders, A United Methodist, set to introduce Judge Bill Hetheringt­on, an Episcopali­an, as guest speaker.

The Rev. James Goins, pastor St. Thomas More Catholic Church, will serve as host on March 27, and Judge Steve Bonner, who is Catholic, will be guest speaker. Joe Dufran, a United Methodist, will host on March 28, introducin­g the Rev. Linda Harker, McFarlin United Methodist’s senior pastor, as guest speaker.

Stan Ward, a United Methodist, will host on March 29, introducin­g his nephew Judge Thad Balkman, a Mormon, as guest speaker. Emily Allan, United Methodist and third-year law student, will host on March 30 and introduce her uncle, Dr. Mark Wood, who is an elder at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond.

The free breakfast will be served about 5 a.m., and the program will start at 6:30 p.m. with a song and devotion.

“Christian churches may be organized differentl­y, have different rituals, baptize differentl­y and pray differentl­y. But, whatever road they travel, they all join together and end up at the same belief at Easter,” said Preston A. Trimble, one of the men who was part of the original prayer breakfast on Easter Week 1963.
