Oklahoma softball downs South Carolina, Illinois State

The fifth-ranked Oklahoma softball team rolled past No. 18 South Carolina 5-1 and run-ruled Illinois State 8-0 in six innings as it concluded the OG&E Tournament with a 5-0 record on Sunday in Norman.

In game one, OU’s fiverun third inning helped the Sooners claim their second win against the Gamecocks in two days. Against Illinois State, Parker Conrad pitched a one-hit shutout to earn her first win as a Sooner.

OSU softball run-rules Pacific

The No. 24-ranked Oklahoma State softball team run-ruled Pacific 11-1 on Sunday as it finished the OSU Hall of Fame Classic in Oklahoma City with a 5-0 record. With the win, the Cowgirls (19-6) extended their winning streak to 10 games.

Taylor Lynch led OSU offensivel­y, going 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI. In the circle, Emmie Robertson pitched a complete game to improve to 7-3 on the year. She allowed just two hits and struck out three.

Norman pro angler wins FLW event

Norman angler Bradley Hallman weighed in a five-bass limit of 13 pounds, 1 ounce on Sunday to capture the FLW Tour at Lake Lanier tournament in Gainesvill­e, Georgia. Hallman won $100,000.

The Oklahoma pro led the four-day tournament from start to finish weighing in a tournament best 68 pounds, 4 ounces. He edged fellow Oklahoman Zack Birge of Blanchard by 2 pounds, 10 ounces.

Birge earned $30,000 for second place. It was Hallman’s second career victory on the FLW Tour.

“I probably fished the best week that I have ever fished in my entire life,” Hallman said. “I say that because I had to catch these fish a different way each day.”

Sooners fall short of series sweep

The Oklahoma baseball team was run-ruled by Texas A&M Corpus Christi 14-4 in eight innings on Sunday in Norman. The loss prevented the Sooners from completing (10-7) a four-game series sweep of the Islanders (11-5).

Eastern Michigan edges OSU to win series

Oklahoma State lost its second straight game to Eastern Michigan, dropping the rubber game of the series 6-5 on Sunday in Stillwater.

With the loss, the Cowboys fell to 8-6, while EMU improved to 5-10.
