Northeastern State plans Indian symposium
“Walking with our Ancestors: Preserving Culture and Honoring Tradition” is the theme for the 46th annual Symposium on the American Indian scheduled April 16-21 at Northeastern State University. The symposium is free to the public and does not require registration.
Speakers will be Daniel Wildcat, professor at Haskell Indian Nations University; Daryl Baldwin, director of the Myaamia Center at Miami University; and Lee Francis IV, national director of Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers.
Also planned are screenings of the films “The Old School House” and “Te Ata,” an intertribal language summit and performances by four of the Dream Warriors artists, Tanaya Winder, Frank Waln, Tall Paul and Mic Jordan.
