Northeaste­rn State plans Indian symposium

“Walking with our Ancestors: Preserving Culture and Honoring Tradition” is the theme for the 46th annual Symposium on the American Indian scheduled April 16-21 at Northeaste­rn State University. The symposium is free to the public and does not require registrati­on.

Speakers will be Daniel Wildcat, professor at Haskell Indian Nations University; Daryl Baldwin, director of the Myaamia Center at Miami University; and Lee Francis IV, national director of Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytelle­rs.

Also planned are screenings of the films “The Old School House” and “Te Ata,” an intertriba­l language summit and performanc­es by four of the Dream Warriors artists, Tanaya Winder, Frank Waln, Tall Paul and Mic Jordan.
