“Animal Adventures,” “Movie Making,” “Robotics” and “The Science of Crime” are among weeklong courses that will be offered this summer to students entering fifth through ninth grades during “Tech Quest” at Canadian Valley Technology Center.

“Twice as many courses are being offered this year,” said Kati Davis, who is a career readiness specialist at Canadian Valley Technology Center and one of the event organizers.

Forty unique courses will be offered over a span of four weeks in June and July. Session dates are June 11-15; June 18-21; July 9-12; and July 16-20. Enrollment will open at 8 a.m. April 2.

Cost for each course is $80, which is due at the time of enrollment. Each student will receive a “Tech Quest” T-shirt and a week full of themed activities. “We have instructors from our three campuses and educators from area schools, such as El Reno, Mustang, Union City and Yukon,” said Lizzy Moser, also a career readiness specialist and coorganizer.

This year, afternoon courses have been added at the Canadian Valley Technology Center’s Cowan Campus, located south of Yukon at 1701 S Czech Hall Road. The afternoon sessions are offered June 11-15 and July 16-20 only at the Cowan Campus. Morning courses will be held at both sites. Canadian Valley Technology Center’s El Reno campus is at 6505 E State Highway 66.

No meals are provided. A sack lunch is recommended for students attending two sessions in a day.

Another new addition will be “Parent Quest,” which will include courses for parents of students who enroll in “Tech Quest.” These courses will cost between $10 and $38 each. Parent Quest will take place during morning sessions at El Reno, June 18-21 and July 9-12.

A complete list of course descriptions, times and locations is available at cvtech.edu.

Parents may enroll their students by calling 405-345-2500 or in person at either campus site. Deadline to drop courses for a full refund is May 25.

Bus transportation will be provided at no additional cost from one campus location to the other. Buses will leave each site for the other campus at 8:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Classes begin each day at 8:30 a.m. and at 12:30 p.m.
