OU Law ranked top Oklahoma law school

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma College of Law jumped nine spots in the latest U.S. News & World Report 2019 Ranking of Best Law Schools to No. 63. OU is one of two schools ranked 63 among 194 law schools on the list.

The OU College of Law is Oklahoma’s top law school in the rankings and among the nation’s best public law schools.

Three private schools retained the top three spots held last year in the U.S. News rankings —Yale University, Stanford University and Harvard University.

Dean Joseph Harroz Jr. said OU Law has made great strides in recent years to lead in a time of historic change for law schools.

The most recent ranking is one of several accolades recognizin­g the progress, including a 95 percent bar exam passage rate for firsttime exam takers in July 2017, Harroz said.

“We are encouraged by the statement our recent recognitio­ns make collective­ly, and are honored that our college continues to grow and garner national attention,” he said.

Other recent honors for OU Law, include:

• No. 2 moot court program in the nation, The Blakeley Advocacy Institute.

• First place in the 2018 competitio­n for the nation’s top 16 moot court programs.

• Top 10 best value law school, National Jurist magazine.

• Top 20 most innovative law school, preLaw Magazine.
