The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce on Monday announced that many of its members are ready to hire.

Businesses in the community have more than 300 job openings that are available currently or in the immediate future.

The jobs represent several different industries and include some of the area’s largest manufacturing companies.

“We’ve focused on nurturing and helping existing industries grow. This is a case of the payoff,” said Wes Smithwick, president and CEO of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce. “When you’ve got companies that want to do business and expand here, it’s a very good story.”

The job openings include mechanical, electrical and software engineers, manufacturing managers, machinists, welders, and drafting and design specialists.

“These are high-wage, high-skilled positions with quality employers,” Smithwick said.

Employers with openings include Alfa Laval, Cymstar, Baker Hughes and L3.

“We’ve got 300 jobs already in Broken Arrow that are vacant and ready to be filled,” Smithwick said.

Broken Arrow isn’t the only community looking to fill job openings. The Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority has said that the area has 358 manufacturing positions open and nearly 600 available jobs across the community, according to Meggie Froman-Knight, talent development manager of CIEDA.

Additionally, Italian tissue paper manufacturer Sofidel broke ground Friday on a $360 million manufacturing facility in Inola that will employ as many as 300 people.
